Regional development
Business has become global over the past decades with various implications. Labor-intensive production has been moved to emerging regions and countries for a long time already based on costs and availability of labor and tax advantages. Nowadays, also knowledge-intensive activities are spreading globally.
This created a new and important challenge for countries, regions and individual cities in the “western world”. In order to maintain and create additional employment, government needs to enhance and strengthen their knowledge-based economies, stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship.
KMM has been assisting regions (cities, provinces, as well as open innovation parks) to develop their knowledge based community by:
- Attracting international high tech companies to set up their operations in the region
- Creating strategic alliances with technology incubators, leading universities, research institutes
- Initiating joint development programs between entities from the region (companies, universities, research institutes) and international partners
- Enhancing and mobilizing the local service infrastructure (human resource companies, banks, lawyers and accountants) to match the expectations of the incoming international companies.
